Introduction

Bicycle is an environmentally-friendly non-motorized transportation mode as it does not require fuel and not produce air pollutant. In villages in which transportation infrastructure is still limited, bicycle can be used as main inter-village transport. The characteristics of rural areas, particularly those outside Java Island in which the road infrastructure is commonly in poor condition and they are far from fuel distribution center, support the use of bicycle as main transportation mode. Besides, ecologically bicycle is supposed to be suitable with rural atmosphere. Therefore, the establishment of bicycle for rural community program becomes necessary. This program is mainly aimed at providing bicycle for rural communities, not rural people.

Implementation

The program is implemented in 2010. In the first batch, IFGRTD has distributed five units of bicycle to SMA Purwa Bhakti, Ciawi, West Java Province.

Batch 2

For Batch 2, it is planned that Central Java is the target area. For this, IFGRTD has targeted to distribute at least 10 bicycle for rural community.
