About Great Project In 2008, a collaborative research project was conducted between The Center for Transportation and Logistics Studies of Gadjah Mada University and the Planning Research Centre of The University of Sydney. The research, which entitled Governance Reform initiativE in trAnsporT sector (GREAT) Project was funded by AusAID through the Australia-Indonesia Governance Research Partnership (AIGRP) program, managed by the Crawford School of Economics and Government, The Australian National University, Canberra. The research provides policy recommendations to the Indonesian Government in their implementation of transport projects funded within the Public Private Partnership (PPP) framework and the Public Service Obligations (PSO). In addition, the research makes recommendations on capacity building and knowledge improvement for the major stakeholders concerned (governmental, private, and education organizations in Indonesia) to assist them in understanding and implementing PPP projects and their subsidiary policies /PSO more efficiently and effectively.
AUSTRALIAN TRANSPORT SECTOR TECHNICAL TOUR Study Year 2008 The GREAT project is working with a wide range of public sector and private sector agents in Indonesia and Australia to provide the collective learning and inform base on which to make recommendations about public sector- private partnerships for transport infrastructure and on subsidy and PSO in transport services. Therefore during the GREAT project implementation, a technical tour and workshop was designed exclusively for the Indonesian stakeholders who have interest in PPP implementation particularly in transport sector. Study Year 2009 Judging from the success of the program, in 2009 PUSTRAL UGM has engaged collaboration with University of New South Wales to conduct the Australian Technical Tour in (mbak prima tolong diisi tanggal yang dah fix kemarin) August 2009 and in (mbak prima tolong diisi tanggal yang dah fix kemarin) October 2009. Participants from central and local government staff, academia and private sectors are welcome to join the program. Visit Program Participants will spend 5 working days, Monday to Friday. During the visits in Sydney, they will be accompanied by an experienced transport engineer and policy advisor in local government in Australia and in the private sector. The specific details of the technical tour will be arranged to meet the needs of the participants but will include site visits plus technical information on the following:
Participants may request other specific transport or infrastructure projects of their interest. They can indicate their preference in the application form. Besides visit the above sites, participants will also have in-class program, where they can receive lecture from respected professors from Gadjah Mada University and University of New South Wales. During in-class program, participants can bring their project idea on PPP and they can discuss it with the lecturers. The theme of the lectures is PPP in transport with subjects as follow:
Each participant will write up the lessons learnt and the relevance to Indonesia. These reports and presentations will be presented at a Workshop to be held at the University of New South Wales. Tentative agenda Day 1: Coordination and Lecture at UNSW FACILITIES This technical tour and workshop is designed exclusively for the Indonesian stakeholders. Participants will spend 5 working days, Monday to Friday, and 6 nights accommodation in a 3-star hotel in central Sydney. COST Total cost for this technical tour is 4500 USD, which will include international travel, hotel accommodation, and lecturers’ fee. A certificate will be issued on satisfactory completion of the course. INFORMATION ABOUT SYDNEY Sydney enjoys a temperate climate with a mild winter, and has more than 340 sunny days a year. Average minimum temperatures in the winter months of June through to August is around 9 degrees Celsius (47-48 degrees Fahrenheit). The summer season is from December through to February.
